我捐了头发

小女子年方二八，正青春，捐了头发。

两年前的时候，我还是一头短发。有一天突然觉得，反正头发怎样都得长(zhang)，干脆留长(chang)吧。（不，其实是因为理发太贵了。） 留的时候几度欲剪，毕竟留短发是有瘾的。最终还是克服了，因为我想捐头发，而捐头发是有长度要求的。 长到了差不多不能再忍的程度（睡觉常常压到头发 / 翻身的时候需要重新调整头发摆放位置），决定去剪了。自己在家量了一下，有30cm长，也就是 12 inches. 美国的几家接收头发捐助机构的要求，最短是 10 inches，也就是 25.4 cm. （当然是越长越好。听说最近这些机构捐助对象孩子们很期待长发款的假发。）剪头发前先做好功课，决定好要捐给哪家机构。不同机构对头发的要求不一样，不只是头发长度有要求，有的机构也不接受 漂白/染色的头发 / 灰发 等等。 达标了，就可以去理发店了。 跟理发师一说要捐头发，他们就知道怎么做了。自己在家也是可以搞的，只要把头发绑成马尾辫，在发绳上端的位置剪一刀就好了，也就是，剪下来的头发，需要是成捆的。（机构不接受散落的头发。） 把成捆的头发装进袋子里。 随便找张纸写下自己的联系方式（机构收到你的头发后，会写感谢小卡片/邮件给你）。或者打印人家自己正式的表格也行。 我选的这家机构叫 locks of love.

填表，表格在 locks of love 官网下载 去USPS邮寄。邮局工作人员说，放进他们中号信封就行。柜台工作人员也听说过 locks of love. 看来不少人往这个地址捐头发。很棒。

邮局寄出去 我的头发竟然有 6 oz 重，也就是 170 g. 大概是3个鸡蛋的重量。等于说，我每天头顶三个鸡蛋。想想画面醉人。 然后就坐等机构收到自己的头发。 他们会发感谢信给你。 新的一年，想从头开始的你，不妨也考虑留长头发，两年甚至更长时间后捐掉。 会有天使替孩子们谢谢你。

附：Locks of love 的捐头发指南

GUIDELINES FOR ACCEPTABLE DONATIONS

Locks of Love is not a manufacturer of any type of hair replacement system or hair care product. As a charity and strictly a charity, we purchase the custom prostheses we provide free of charge to our recipients.

• 10 inches measured tip to tip is the minimum length that can be used in a hairpiece
• Colored or permed hair is acceptable. If you are unsure, you may send your hair with the understanding that our manufacturer determines the viability of all hair donations
• Hair cut years ago is usable if it has been stored in a ponytail or braid
• Any hair NOT bundled in a ponytail or braid, cannot be used. This includes hair swept off the floor or shaved without being bundled
• We cannot use dreadlocks as the process of blending hair donations together requires the hair must be combed
• Layered hair should be divided into multiple ponytails
• Curly hair may be pulled straight to measure the minimum 10 inches
• Shorter hair will be separated from the ponytails and may be sold to offset the manufacturing costs. Although the shorter hair cannot be used in the hairpieces, if sold, it greatly helps to reduce costs
• Gray hair may be sold to offset the manufacturing costs

Because Locks of Love creates custom hairpieces for each child, we cannot use donations of wigs, falls, hair extensions or synthetic hair

The Hair Donation Form is not required to donate hair. If you are having trouble downloading or printing the Hair Donation Form, simply provide your name and address on any sheet of paper and include it with your donation.
